Use Baskets To Beautifully Organize Your Home

Baskets are both functional and beautiful at the same time. My absolute favorite type of home decor. They are also the perfect organizing container.

Baskets fulfill that part of me that  screams you don’t need any more trinkets to decorate with. I can, with good conscience, purchase a new basket with no qualms. With baskets, I can store stuff in them and use them to decorate my space. A two for one winner.

How To Use Baskets To Organize

Baskets can be used in any room of your house. They don’t have to stored in a closet or cabinet to be useful. My favorite way to use baskets is right in the open. Underneath a table on the floor or on top of cabinet. Decorative functional storage.

In The Family Room

I will always love a good rattan basket. It is sturdy. Gorgeous.

I have two lidded baskets from Pottery Barn in my sofa table. Lidded baskets can hide the not so pretty stuff yet dress up a room. I have also used those same two baskets on the floor underneath the last shelf on this sofa table. By using baskets on the floor, I can double my space.

I keep table linens in these two baskets. One basket is for everyday linens. The other holds holiday linens. This is an finite amount of space.  The baskets keep me accountable for the amount of table linens I can keep. When the baskets are full,  it is time to declutter the baskets.

Wire baskets are so beautiful in their simplicity. Vintage and rustic. They showcase throws and quilts without covering them up. The wire allows you see to exactly what the basket contains. Handles are a plus for baskets. Grab and go.

I have throws in these baskets so perfect for grabbing when it’s chilly. The baskets keep the throws neat and tidy till needed.

I got this galvanized metal basket from World Market. It is perfect for storing and displaying books. I also find I reach for these books more often now. They are easier to reach by being inside the basket on top of my media cabinet.  Plus it makes for a pretty display.

In The Foyer

I also use rattan baskets to store my ever growing candle collection. Bath and Body candles are my obsession. Especially any of the beach scents.  I have filled those three baskets and have actually started filling a drawer with candles.   Where’s the accountability in that one?

These rattan baskets are from Target. Affordable and sturdy. Great baskets. I like the clean straight lines of these baskets.

Much like bins. Again stored right in the open in my foyer.  On my entry table shelf and on the floor. This is a great way to create storage space.

In The Bathroom

Wire baskets come in many shapes and sizes. My favorite wire baskets are called locker baskets. They are rectangular. They have a little tab that you can grab to pull it out. A place to put a label. There are just so many uses for these types of baskets.

In the bathroom, they can hold towels or wash cloths. Toiletries, toilet paper, and soap are perfect uses.

These type of baskets look lovely on an open or shelf or stored inside a cabinet. I wouldn’t want to hide them though. I love to display baskets when ever possible.

In The Kitchen

I am currently using these locker baskets in my buffet in my kitchen dining area. They are behind a glass door so I can still enjoy their beauty. I have stored my precious Williams and Sonoma kitchen towels in one.  White coffee cups in the other.

This would be good for cookbooks as well. Store a basket of cookbooks on an open shelf in the kitchen. Or even snuggled into a corner of a kitchen counter top.

I use wire baskets in my pantry to store potatoes and onions. This makes it very easy to grab a basket of potatoes to the sink for peeling.

Using baskets in your kitchen, creates a beautiful organizing space.
