Create A Baking Cart

The holidays and baking just go together. The wonderful aroma from the oven of delightful sugar cookies. Soon to be decorated.

Then there are the food gifts to be made.

Chocolate chip pumpkin bread  in the Instant Pot is my favorite to bake for gifts.

I don’t keep any baking ingredients on my counter. They are all stored in my pantry which is a bit of a walk away from my counters. Not a big deal.  I thought it would be nice to put everything I needed to bake with on a cart. All I had to do was wheel it from the pantry to my counter.

So, my baking cart was created.

The Baking Cart

I used the Raskog cart from Ikea. It is inexpensive, very sturdy and downright cute. I am even thinking about leaving my baking cart in the kitchen instead of wheeling it back into the pantry. It was very easy to put together. This is another favorite item from Ikea. If you Google the Raskog cart, there are tons of ideas of how to use this cart.

I kinda would like another one for my sewing room.

Update: Ikea has changed the colors of the Raskog cart to black, gray-green or white.

Baking Supplies

On the first tier, I put my OXO containers filled with granulated sugar, powdered sugar and all purpose flour. This way I can pop off the tops and scoop right from the containers without removing them from the cart. Time saver!

Spice jars hanging on the side of a baking cart.

I added the Bygel hanging wire basket (which is no longer available) to the first tier of the cart. This is also from Ikea. It is perfect for storing my most used holiday baking spices. I also hung the dry measuring cups from a small hook on the side of the cart. This makes the measuring cups accessible without me having to hunt for them. Don’t you love the red on these cups? They are from the Pioneer Women’s kitchen collection. They are enameled metal. I have put them through the dishwasher several times and they still look brand new.

Candy sprinkles, chocolate chips and cooking spray inside of baking cart.

On the second shelf, I put my OXO containers of chocolate chips and brown sugar. I also put a can of cooking spray within easy reach. I found this adorable jar of candy sprinkles at World Market. I can hardly wait to use them on sugar cookies.

There is also a bar of shortening, baking chocolate, cocoa powder, real vanilla ( never use imitation), and a container of cupcake liners. This cart holds a lot.

Baking powder, salt and baking soda in magnetic tins.

These little magnet tins are going to be a life saver. They are also from Ikea. They are the Grundtal containers (no longer available). I added labels to the lids with my label maker. I have been known to forget to add salt to my recipes. This way the salt container is staring at me.  I can grab the salt, baking soda or baking powder, measure what I need and stick it back onto the cart. No more forgetting for me.

The bottom tier holds my collection of cookie cutters. I store them in a Sterilite container from Dollar General. It fits perfectly here.

That’s it. This is going to be such a timesaver. I am really looking forward to using my baking cart this season.
