Fall Farmhouse Home Tour With Some Traditional Ideas
A fall home tour is a special part of blogging for me. I get to share my home decor with you!
Fall is my favorite time of the year to decorate my home. Well, besides Christmas that is. I love the warm colors and the neutral tones as well. There is a part of me that embraces the white neutral decor of the farmhouse style. Then there is my traditional side that has a need to radiate color into my fall vignettes. So, I used both!
Here, I present my fall home tour with tips and details to inspire you in your home.
This fall home tour concentrates on the two main living areas of our home. The ones we use the most. Our kitchen and our family room.

Mixing Fall Decor Styles
I have been collecting fall decor for many years. Mainly, traditional fall decor. I love the burnt oranges, yellow greens and rustic browns that emulate the changing leaves.
In recent years, I have been drawn to the calm farmhouse neutral decor. So, I mixed the decor up and really love how the two styles (farmhouse and traditional) compliment one another.
Go ahead and mix your decor to suit your style!
Our Kitchen
Our kitchen is very special to me. We remodeled it five years ago and I still love it. It is warm and welcoming with its cherry cabinetry and white with brown flecked granite counter tops.
I keep most of the decor in here very traditional with just a touch of farmhouse.
We have a breakfast nook to one side of our gallery style kitchen. It has a full size table that every year, I place a tray filled with leaves and pumpkins. All faux, of course. This year, I added some small pinecones to the mix.
The tray is from Pottery Barn and sits on a table runner I quilted.

There are several DIY projects throughout my home that makes the decor extra special to me. I enjoy bringing them out year after year.
Just like putting out special pieces that have a lot of sentimental value.
The vibrant fall colors add so much warmth to this much used family space.

On the wall behind the table is my sideboard which I have placed a platter with an easel to hold it up. Using plates is an inexpensive way to fill a large space.

I added just a few smaller items to make sure my vignette was balanced but doesn’t look cluttered. We do use this sideboard so keeping decor to a minimum is important.
I am still loving everything retro truck inspired.
Continuing with plates, I stacked dessert plates onto a tiered stand with a small pumpkin on each tier. The stand can be used for any season which I will probably just change these to Christmas theme plates after Thanksgiving.

Changing out the set of wall baskets is one of my favorite areas to decorate. It is such fun to see how many little things can be added to it. This makes it very interesting without taking up a lot of space.

The tiny pillow was a machine embroidery project from Kimberbell. This company produces some of the cutest designs you can make with your embroidery machine.
I used the pumpkin plates from years ago and added a small tin cup bordered with black and white buffalo check from Hobby Lobby.
The tin cup is filled with small pinecones to support the little pumpkin inside.
TIP: Use a filler such as paper shreds to fill containers then top off with the decorative element. This way the good stuff won’t be wasted by not being seen.

Since this is a working kitchen, I don’t like to add much decor to the kitchen counters. I keep it minimal with a fall kitchen towel and a small pumpkin next to the sink.

On the window sill is a Bath and Bodyworks candle with more white pumpkins. A perfect combination.
Tip: When grouping items together, always use odd numbers. This is more pleasing to the eye.
Mrs. Myers fall scent for this year is Acorn. It smells so good. Almost makes washing dishes a pleasure. Almost.

I found this mug at Marshalls and the spoon rest at Kirklands this year. I love how they match. What a happy coincidence. Hello, pumpkin!
This completes my coffee section. This is just enough decor including the engraved pumpkin.

Our Family Room
Our family room is mainly decorated with farmhouse white. Last year, we revamped and painted the mantel. The white paint makes such a difference in this room. It is much brighter than it was. I wanted to continue that brightness with lots of farmhouse elements.

Farmhouse is lots of whites, greys and galvanized metals, which I have incorporated into this room. With the olive bucket, white lanterns and white pumpkins, I am loving this departure from my traditional oranges and browns.

This simple vignette is the only decor I wanted on my coffee table. I like space. With too much decor on tables it begins to feel cluttered. One tray filled with fall decor is the right amount to bring some coziness in our family room.

This is the first year I have decorated a dough bowl. What a great piece to add all kinds of doo dads. Everything came from Hobby Lobby including the dough bowl. My favorite thing is the wooden beads spilling out of the dough bowl. They add lots of interest and texture.

This dough bowl sits on the console table underneath the tv. I love to rest my eyes on this instead of the tv!

Our home is all set for when the weather begins to chill. We’ll be all warm and snug!
I hope you enjoyed my fall home tour. And perhaps were inspired by a tip or two!

Love all the different styles of pumpkins
Me, too. There is no such thing as too many pumpkins. 😀
Hi Carol!
Your home looks lovely in all of its fall attire. I love, love, love the dough bowl and how you decorated it. Is it terrible that I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and today? I wish I had seen this post before I went. Thank you so much for sharing at Homestyle Gathering!

Thank you, Kim! I spend way too much time at Hobby Lobby. But I love all the crafts and decor. You just never know what you’ll find, so frequent visits are a must!
