Today I am sharing my five best Christmas kitchen decorating ideas. These are simple ways to bring the holiday spirit into your kitchen. Plus you don’t have to spend any extra money. Just use what you already have. The items can be everyday decor. Re-purposing what you already own. Adding a collection of ornaments and ribbon with some greenery.

Decorating my kitchen for Christmas is always the first room that I set up all the trimmings. I bring out my collection of baking Santas and bottle brush trees. The Christmas plates. Mugs. Table runner. Greenery. A pure celebration of Christmas. A kitchen sees the most traffic of any room in a home. Mine is no exception. So, I make sure it is welcoming to family and friends.

Use Collections In Your Christmas Kitchen Decorating

Gather all your like items together to create a collection. Use a theme. I uses Santas and baking as my theme to decorate my kitchen counter.

I love Santas. Especially Baking Santas. They watch over me as I make cookie dough or whip a cake batter. They keep me company in the kitchen and never get under foot. Although I do on occasion have to move a Santa back a little so he doesn’t get splattered. The Baking Santas are made by Possible Dreams. I have been collecting them for three years now. Buying one each season. I just love them. They are so special with all the Christmas goodies they carry. Lots of baking inspiration there.

I gathered all my Baking Santas and anything Santa related or baking related to decorate my kitchen counter. I found the gingerbread nightlight at Bath and Body Works this year. It fits perfectly with my baking collection theme. I find having a nightlight in the kitchen brings a cozy welcome. I always have a nightlight in the kitchen.

The red gingham rolling pin is a new addition. I found it at Walmart. It is a part of the Pioneer Woman’s holiday collection. The red and white works beautifully with my Baking Santa theme.

Christmas measuring spoons are a must when baking.

I also have a small collection of bottle brush trees. I put them on my window sill. Another small collection that adds to the homey, cozy feel of a Christmas celebration.

Use Natural Elements To Decorate Your Kitchen

Pull some greenery into your decor. This warms your kitchen plus adds lots of color into your Christmas kitchen decorating.

I use faux and dried greenery in my kitchen to help warm up this space. I have continued the red and green colors with the dried boxwood wreaths hung on red and white gingham ribbon. The ribbon is wired which makes it easy to shape and retain that shape through daily use.

The white bowl is threaded with red and white ribbon and filled with faux greenery, red apples,pine cones and red ornaments. The greenery adds texture. Softening the hardness of a kitchen space.

Use Handmade Items To Soften and Warm A Kitchen

I use a table runner I stitched and quilted many years ago on my kitchen table. It brings a welcome feeling the my kitchen. The softness of the quilted table runner softens the hardness of the wood surfaces in my kitchen.

Use Vintage Items

Tradition is very important. It brings stability to a holiday celebration. It is a time to remember and make new memories.  Continue to decoreate with  items that have been used in your family for years. It brings familiarity to your kitchen and can be a conversation starter. It also brings a sense of well being. Always have something that brings the past into your kitchen. Make sure to tell the story associated with that vintage treasure. You will continue to make memories.

I bought these Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus salt and pepper shakers when I first got married. I place them on my kitchen table every year. Just looking at them makes me happy.

Add Small Touches To What You Already Own

I use the same containers all year. Just changing out what is in them . The hanging basket is always show casing some seasonal plate. Here I have some plates I got at Hobby Lobby last year. The little red truck carrying the tree I purchased at Target in the dollar section this year. Kitchen Christmas decor doesn’t have to be expensive or new every year. Just add to what you already own.

I filled the chicken wire three tiered baskets with inexpensive ornament. I just pulled out red and silver to create a color theme.

The silver and white lanterns tie in perfectly the rest of the vignette on my side board. Including my gray Santa.

I used the chalkboard mugs to tie in with my hand made chalkboard.

Again I used a boxwood wreath to soften the chalkboard. My daughter wrote the Noel on the chalkboard for me. I just love it.
