Use my free cutting file for the design file in Design Space. This file also marks a 1/4 inch sewing line using the Cricut Washable Fabric Pen. I highly recommend using this to mark your fabric. It makes sewing so much easier. Place fabric right side down on the pink mat, so the pen markings will be visible while sewing. Place the fabric marker in the pen holder of the Cricut Maker. Using the Cricut Maker and the rotary blade, cut the fabric. You will need to cut three sets of pumpkin pieces. For a total of 6 pieces.
Once the fabric pieces are cut, take them to the sewing machine. Line up two pieces at a time, right sides together. Use clips to keep the fabric pieces together while sewing.
Sew along one side, starting and stopping at the point of each piece. Sew on the marked seam lines. This is very important when sewing all the sides together. Sew one more piece to this set, right sides together. This will give you one half of your pumpkin which is three pieces. Repeat with the last three pieces to make the other half of the pumpkin
Take the two halves and lay them right sides together. Clip the sides together, so they don’t shift. Sew the sides in one continuous circle, leaving about two inches at the top for the opening for turning the pumpkin right side out.
Turn pumpkin right side out.
Stuff the pumpkin with polyfill till firm.
Cut three pieces of twine or yarn, 12 inches long.
Wrap one piece of twine over one seam of the pumpkin all the way around from top to bottom. The top of the pumpkin is where the hole is that was used to stuff the pumpkin. Place twine along the seam line. Tie off the twine at the bottom after pulling tightly on the pumpkin to shape it. Repeat for the other two pieces of twine, placing the twine along the other two seam lines around the pumpkin.
Don’t sew up the hole in the pumpkin top. Place a stick through that hole, in between the triangle formed by the twine, for the stem of the pumpkin. Add a ribbon bow, if desired.
