Spring Decor Ideas For Your Sideboard

Looking for spring decor ideas? Here is how I style my sideboard for spring. I love to decorate this cabinet that is in my breakfast dining area.

Styling my sideboard is one of my favorite place to decorate. Especially for spring. Winter is over and it’s time to bring out the flowers.

Our breakfast nook gets the most traffic of any area in our home. It is smack dab in the middle of all activity. The kitchen, the garage, the laundry. All traffic flows through the breakfast nook.

So, of course this is the first room to be decorated for spring. Aw, lovely spring. Dreaming of warmer weather and glorious blooming flowers.

The sideboard is a very prominent piece of furniture next to the kitchen table. This is what I concentrated my efforts on. My spring sideboard. The kitchen table will have to wait.

This is an overview of the sideboard. I haven’t changed out the dishes behind the glass doors. I like my collection of bowls there. And my white dinnerware on the other side. The top of the sideboard is now changed from winter snowmen to birds, bicycles and blooms. The 3 B’s of Spring. Now it is a spring sideboard.

Use A Spring Theme

Birds, bicycles and blooms are the inspiration theme for this vignette.

I found this little tray at Target last year and didn’t use it. It fits perfectly into my theme. I stashed it in the top wire basket with a ceramic bird looking on. The bottom wire basket holds another bird looking up, sitting next to an empty clay pot.

I hand lettered the chalkboard sign. Hey, it was free handed. Took about two minutes for me write and draw. Maybe one day I’ll learn proper chalkboard lettering. Sigh.

Anyway, sitting below my chalkboard sign, are more ceramic birds. Two bicycle candle holders along with the infamous Ikea metal pitcher. I filled my bottle tree with Debbie Mumm mugs and some yellow mugs.

The floral ceramic balls look like they have been sitting in the garden for years. They fit so well with my aged and white 3 B’s theme.

A closer look at the faux white washed wooden birds. Decorating for spring just calls for birds. Lots of birds. Especially white washed ones.

Shop Your House For Spring Decor

I gathered all my spring items that fit my theme: birds, bicycles and blooms.

Then used those items that had the same white or pastel color story.

I placed the items in small groupings on the sideboard.

It is important that the heights go up and down as your eye scans the sideboard top. This is visually pleasing.

For instance, the two floral balls have the shorter bird candle holder with the taller birds in front. The ikea pitcher is flanked by shorter bicycle candle holders. Then at the other end is a taller bird with an even taller bottle tree.

By arranging the objects this way, it is a thoughtful display. I explain about this further in my post on how to decorate your coffee table.
