The Mantel In White Pumpkins

Earlier this month, I told my mister, I have to have more white pumpkins. Our mantel must be decorated with white pumpkins. Only white pumpkins would do. I wanted the mantel to reflect farmhouse pumpkin decor.

I had an idea.

I wanted to go with a neutral decor for the family room and traditional for the kitchen.

And so the quest for white pumpkins began. I scored big time at Marshall’s.  I scooped up nearly every little white pumpkin they had. A total of five. They matched perfectly with the white pumpkin I had just bought at Michael’s.

I decided that I wanted a row of white pumpkins lining the mantel. This was the simple impact I was looking for. I think a single color can make a statement. Purely farmhouse pumpkin decor.

Use Everyday Items In Your Seasonal Decor

Use a dough bowl for a table center piece is an easy way to gather different elements of fall decor. Small items have more impact when placed in a dough ball. It is a perfect focal point for a vignette.

I placed some more of the off-white sunflowers and placed them in the faux dough bowl. Tossed in a couple of white pumpkins and some large acorns. Simple yet dramatic center piece for my dining room table. I use the white pillar candle holders nearly all year. Sometime using different color candles. I thought white fit the center piece nicely.

Use Items From The Dollar Store

Using a galvanized tray from my kitchen counter, I added pumpkins, leaves and a few acorns. The leaves came from the dollar store. These are great for filling in empty areas in a centerpiece. I gathered all my traditional pumpkins and placed them in this container . Some are ceramic, some are plastic and some are resin. They all match because of the unifying color. The leaves definitely tied them together.

The dollar store always has some great filler pieces to decorate with. Plus you could easily use these cheap pumpkins and paint them. Then you can get the neutral color that’s perfect for a farmhouse look.

I added a some leaf dishes to hold some acorns in the tray for some additional height.

Smaller Pumpkins Are Easier To Decorate With

When ever we go out to a store, I always look for small pumpkins. It is just easier to stick a pumpkin or two in an existing decoration. Or group three together on a shelf. Or even just one. Like I did on the kitchen buffet.

Even my wall decor is pumpkin related. Notice the pumpkin truck on the wall?  So cute.

And when fall is over, the picture can easily be stored in my fall bin. Or even against a wall in the hall closet.

Do Not Think You Have To Decorate Every Inch

Leaving space on your table is very important. It gives your eyes a place to rest. Not to mention table tops have a function to actually hold stuff. Like mail, dinner, a beverage and more.

As much as I would like to keep my home decorated pefectly, this is reality. My home is where we live and I need to remember that.  Too much decor is not a good thing. Sometimes, one needs to step back and edit.

Just a single pumpkin can be enough to welcome fall.
