Everyone gathers in the kitchen. Not only does the kitchen feed hungry tummies but it feeds the soul as well. What better place to catch up on daily events? Over a piping hot bowl of chili. Or cup of coffee or tea with a warm slice of pie. The kitchen represents a feeling of completeness. It is the heart and soul of our homes. This is the room we wake up to every day and the room we leave every evening before heading to bed. I can’t say that about every room in my home. So, of course, my kitchen is the first room I decorate for Fall. Please join me as I guide you through my favorite room in my home. The kitchen tour.
First up is my table in the kitchen tour. I have it set with a pieced and quilted table runner in fall colors. It is the one I use year after year. I never tire of it. I placed a figural sunflower vase filled with faux sunflowers on top of the table runner. Then I placed two votive candle holders beside the vase. Fall color is so beautiful.
Next up is my side board. I kept it simple. I found two white lanterns on clearance at Pier One. Then a chicken wire lantern stands in the middle. Also a Pier One find. I can’t get enough of chicken wire. It is rustic and has lots of texture. Which is needed on this smooth table top. I filled the chicken wire lantern with faux pumpkins from Pottery Barn. The apple pie plate was a find from last year. Another chalkboard inspired piece. Chalkboard and chicken wire. Two of my favorites.
Oh, yes. Then there’s the turkey. He is just adorable. Now don’t go and insult him by calling him a chicken. It is Mr. Turkey. I scooped him up from Home Goods. The white and galvanized look sent me swooning. I think he looks quite at home. Guarding the lanterns.
A wire wall basket filled with pumpkin plates and mugs. This little bit of color just adds to my neutral palette in the kitchen.
Here’s a full view of the sideboard. I have added to my wall. It looks more like a gallery wall with the additions of the chicken plaque. I made the Fresh Baked Pies Sign if you are interested.
My kitchen counters did not get neglected. I didn’t do a whole lot. Just a few pumpkins. White, of course, to match my counter. There is just something about white pumpkins.
See the bread box? It is just big enough to hold a home baked loaf of bread. World Market find this summer. I put faux apples, leaf plates and pumpkin bowls in the three tiered stand. Did you notice the stand is also chicken wire? Love it.
That’s it. Simple. Just enough fall color to warm the kitchen. I hope you enjoyed my kitchen tour. I think I’ll go make some hot mulled apple cider. Care to join me?
