Family Room Christmas Tour 2015
The Christmas cards are made and addressed. I have started my holiday baking. The Christmas decorations are complete. Well, as much as I am going to do. I think. Don’t get me wrong. I adore decorating for Christmas. It’s just that there is so much I want to do. You know?
Welcome to my family room Christmas tour 2015. The Christmas tree is almost as big as this room but I like it. It is the focal point after all. Do you see the one lone Christmas present under the tree? Yes, just one. I still have eleven days to finish shopping and wrapping.
Decorating our mantel for Christmas is almost as much fun as decorating the tree. This year, I added some burlap ribbon to the garland. I simply draped and pushed the burlap into the faux garland while adding some red ornaments for pops of color. I also hung my PB inspired pallet sign. You can read about how to make one here.
The center piece is a snowflake candle holder holding a Yankee candle. The stocking hangers are a must to go on the mantel. It is tradition.
The hand sewn stockings are another tradition. I made them when my daughter was born. She is now seventeen.
The Merry Christmas pillow is a new addition this year. I fell in love with this font and had to machine embroider it onto a pillow cover. I sewed the pillow cover, too. You can see how to sew one for yourself here.
Candles, of course must be on my coffee table. Doesn’t holly just whisper Christmas?
This is the view from in front of the fireplace. One door leads to the kitchen and the other to the formal rooms of the house. Our family room is one of my favorite rooms. It is so cozy. Perfect for curling up with a warm throw, mushing the pillow till it forms around your head and staring into a lit fireplace. All this while enjoying a hot cup of cocoa. Makes winter seem almost comfy.
