When it comes to food, I am not very adventurous. I always order what is familiar to me at restaurants. I play it safe. The same goes for trying out recipes. I can’t imagine I’ve prepared a dish that no one will like. Wasting time and money. So, I taste new foods at pot lucks , reunions, friends. And so forth. Broccoli salad is one of those recipes. Oh, my but this salad is so flavorful. The crunchy texture is superb. I love it and so does my family.
This would be perfect to bring to a potluck or family reunion.
It has crisp bacon, sunflower seeds and fresh broccoli marinated in a mayonnaise and red wine vinegar dressing. Mouth watering. I served it with a pulled pork sandwich for this meal but this side dish would go with many different main courses.
I love using this cutting board and colander combo to make salads. I chopped the broccoli from it’s stems and only used the florets. I then can rinse the florets right there at the sink and let it drain while I chop the red onion. If you come across one of these cutting boards, grab it. You will get a lot of use from it.
You can add raisins to this but I am not a fan. So I left them out.
This is another winner to add to the repertoire of easy and delicious recipes.
We picked up some fresh corn from a local farmer yesterday. So, I need to go prepare it for freezing. It is so nice to taste corn on the cob in the middle of winter. Hey, it’s wonderful in the middle of summer, too.
