I spend a lot of time in my screened porch during the summer months. I blog here. Have family meals here. Talk to family and friends here. It is just a nice place to relax. Be a part of nature without all the bugs. I thought I would give an updated summer tour of the screened porch. It’s a little different from last year’s tour.
The walls and wicker furniture got a fresh coat of white paint. It is so much brighter out here now. I changed out the cushions. I was just going to recover the old cushions but they were a little too flat. The stuffing had lost its poof. I really like these navy and white cushions. I think navy can be a good neutral. I bought them at Kmart.
I also went ahead and decorated my table for the 4th of July. So , hard to believe that June is almost over. I am definitely looking forward to the three day weekend.
I will be serving hotdogs, chips and a couple of different salads. The napkins which I got this year at World Market are sitting in the hotdog baskets. The plates will hold the chips and salads. Oops, I forgot the flatware. I brought out my water goblets because we hardly ever use stemmed glasses. I really like using them but for some reason only bring them out for holidays.
I used a turquoise colored table cloth because I thought it was a little different and matched my Summer Time Sign. I like mixing blues. The plates I have had for many years and enjoy setting the 4th of July table with them. Did you notice the little condiment knives sitting on the top o the empty jelly jars? They are so cute. I will be filling the jelly jars with ketchup, mustard, relish and mayonnaise. A tablescape is not complete without some sort of candle light. So, it’s only one candlestick. Can’t be adding more heat to an already warm day.
I put my Stars and Stripes pillow in the adirondack chair. This chair is so comfy it doesn’t need a pillow but I like the pillow there. Please ignore the old cushions piled in the corner of the room.
The two lanterns hanging up are also new additions this year. I put flameless candles in them that are on timers. So now around dusk they light up for five hours. Lovely ambience. Oh, my beach sign is wishful thinking. I still love the trees and listening to the birds chirp.
Thanks for visiting. Have you updated your outdoor space? I would love to hear what you did.
