I took yesterday off from work so I could drive my daughter to the first day of school for 2013- 2014 and pick her up. She will probably be driving herself next year. Sniff. The first day of school is a half day, so I thought I’ll have a couple of hours to work on fun projects for the house.
I knew the laundry was spilling out of the hamper. I thought I could run a load and do a craft project while the washer was going. We keep our hamper in our bathroom. Looking around the bathroom, it had gotten grimy to say the least. I would clean the bathroom real fast (what was I thinking?), take a shower and get started on my craft project.
I knew the shower needed lots of attention. I hate cleaning the shower. It’s fiberglass with a track shower door that always has gunk beneath the shower door and in the tracking. I don’t remember the last time it was cleaned. I try to spend as little time in there as possible.
Our master bathroom is not a place I linger in. This bathroom has gold fixtures, a garden tub (that literally you could plant a good size garden in), pink wall paper, white and pink linoleum, pink and white striped balloon valance. One day, one day, it will be renovated with a tub I can actually use. This one uses every ounce of hot water from our 35 gallon water heater and it still is not full.
So, I got the scrub brush, some cleaner and a glass to rinse the shower walls off. Over an hour later, the shower was cleaned. Plus it a smelled clean. Making it worth the effort not to mention how nice it’ll be to step into a clean shower. The rest of the bathroom didn’t take that long to clean, I do maintain the vanity and toilet regularly. It’s just that shower. Looking at the clock, my morning was over and time to pick up my daughter from school. No craft projects even started.
Lesson learned: Clean the bathroom thoroughly on a regular basis and it won’t take all morning. A quick brushing and swipe more often. I think I need one of those chore charts on the back of the bathroom door like they have in stores to remind me when the last date was it was cleaned.
