Finished size 12 x 15
For one placemat:
Cut 4 strips 13 inches long from one print
Cut 3 strips 16 inches long from another print
Lay the 3 strips vertical, close together. Then begin weaving the shorter strip horizontally. Keep the weave tight so there are no gaps in the finished placemat. Pin the weaving as you go, so it doesn’t shift out of place while you are working on it. Continue weaving the other three strips.
When you have finished weaving, sew all around the perimeter of the placemat to keep all edges in place. Fold up 1/2 inch hem on each side, being careful of the wire in the ribbon. Sew each folded side in place. Done.
This is a very forgiving project. Your sewing doesn’t have to be straight because the print on the ribbon hides it.
This is a fast easy project. Let me know what you think.
