Every room in my house needs an update. Decor wise. Starting with the bonus room which is a great family space. We bought a dark brown leather sectional a couple of years ago. Fits the space well but I haven’t done much else with the room. It’s time to make it more inviting.
The sectional couch is in desperate need of pillows. I bought two about a year ago for each end but the middle looked empty. So when we were at Ikea last summer I bought two pillow inserts which were very inexpensive. It has taken me this long to make pillow covers for them. Which sewing the covers took less than an hour. I don’t know why I put it off so long. Because they turned out wonderfully.
I used Jackie’s video at Teal and Lime . I love her site.
After making the two pillows I decided I needed a third one. Decor needs to be in odd numbers. Pillow inserts are expensive when you have to buy them locally. Ikea is three hours away from me. I had some old pillows I had sewn and stuffed several years ago stored in the garage . So I decided to make my own insert using the stuffing from the old pillows.
I measured some fabric (I always overbuy for projects) for a 16 inch pillow form, cut the two squares, sewed the three sides, ripped open the old pillow, took out the stuffing and restuffed the new form. Lastly, serged the opening closed on the fourth side.
This is a start. Will keep posting about my progress.
